Church admits new members before Annual Meeting

Dear Fellow Members and Friends,

Once again, I have the happy privilege of writing you to share news of today’s admission of new members.  Admission takes place at a regular business meeting of the Christian Science Board of Directors (see Church Manual, p. 56). This morning the Board voted to admit new members to our worldwide church family.

Applications for this admission were received in Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish and were sent to us from the following locations: Angola, Argentina, Australia, Benin, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Colombia, Cote D’Ivoire, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa), England, France, Gabon, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Northern Ireland, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Republic of Georgia, Russia, Rwanda, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, The Netherlands, Togo, United States of America, Uruguay, Venezuela, Wales, and Zambia.

The newest members of our worldwide church family unite with us as members of the Church defined by Mary Baker Eddy in the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:

"The Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick." (p. 583)
If you have a Facebook account and would like to extend a personal welcome to these new members, visit the Church’s Facebook page (The Mother Church -- The First Church of Christ, Scientist).  If you do not have a Facebook account, you may view posted messages here.

Our sincere gratitude goes out to all members and Christian Science teachers who support the admission of new members through their prayers and by approving and countersigning applications.  Applications for membership are welcome at any time. The next admission of new members will take place on November 5, 2010.  Completed applications must be received by the Office of the Clerk no later than November 2.

As a reminder, the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church will take place on Monday, June 7.  If you won’t be in Boston, we hope you will be able to join everyone here via the Internet.  There are several meetings and other activities over the weekend.  For more information, please visit the Annual Meeting webpage

With heartfelt love and appreciation for each of you,

Nathan Talbot
Clerk of The Mother Church
